At the moment I research and teach learning and module design in Higher Education. I also coach HE professionals in the skills of lecturing, with the emphasis on [becoming fit for purpose] through the application of drama skills and techniques.
My immediate background is academia. I am a writer, researcher lecturer in film and cultural studies with an emphasis on political philosophy.
My original calling was drama. I have worked in theatre and film in Hamburg and Berlin. My love of the art of performance informs everything I do, and the organisational skills instilled in me in the fast-paced world of theatre have proved invaluable in all my roles.
I offer half-day and full-day training sessions in drama to corporate and education clients, focusing on helping them develop performance skills that will improve teaching and presentation effectiveness in their working and everyday lives I develop customised workshops based around stagecraft, voice-work, dramaturgy and character work and then applying them to teaching and working in academia.
I convene and lecture modules such as "Design for Learning: Curriculum and Assessment Design and Development" as well as "Supporting Learning in Higher Education".
I also convened modules and workshops such as 'Learning & Teaching in HE' and 'Learning & Teaching in the Disciplines'. 'Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Higher Education' and 'Developing Academic Practice'.
I have designed and taught modules as varied as 'Gender and the Media'. I taught the module 'Introduction to Film Studies' and 'What is Cinema?', a core undergraduate module introducing students to approaches and methodologies in film theory. I thought a module on 'Stars', and gave guest lectures on German cinema.
